TİS Double Pendulum (TDP) - Péndulo Doble

TDP (TIS Double Pendulum) is a seismic isolation device featuring a double-sliding curved surface. TDP devices are designed to dampen seismic forces and provide effective protection for structures to ensure “operational” structural performance during any seismic event. For the same dimensions, the TDP device’s advanced sliding mechanism allows for higher horizontal displacement capacities compared to the TSP, enabling the use of more economical and compact devices.

The TDP consists of a steel sliding element—which can also be designed with a hinged joint to meet high rotational demands—positioned between two support plates with the same radius of curvature, along with the patented Technoslide material developed by TIS, used on the sliding and rotational surfaces.

The two sliding surfaces on the TDP’s steel support plates facilitate horizontal displacement while also contributing to the dissipation of seismic energy through a friction mechanism. Because horizontal movement occurs simultaneously on both sliding surfaces, TDP devices offer a more compact design compared to TSP devices. If the sliding element is designed to be hinged, it may also include an internal hinge. Curved sliding surfaces, meanwhile, provide TDP devices with a self-centering property under seismic loads.

TDP devices can be used in all types of structures designed with seismic isolation systems.
