Buckling Restrained Brace / BRB, T-BRB

T-BRB (TIS Buckling Restrained Brace) is a steel-yielding damper system invented to modify the performance of steel braces. Unlike many types of seismic dampers, which include materials unfamiliar to civil engineers, the main element in BRB is structural steel. As a result, the BRB has more predictable behavior, allowing more precise design compared to other types of dampers.

The compressive and tensile performance of BRB in cyclic loading is equal and stable. Due to its flexibility, this system plays the role of fuse in the structure, concentrates the damages, and dissipates the earthquake energy. This significantly increases the safety of the structure and reduces damage to the main structural load carrying elements.

T-BRB (TIS Buckling Restrained Brace) is a specially developed buckling restrained brace by our company. T-BRB, unlike other ordinary BRBs in the market, does not have any grout/concrete filler. Instead, T-BRB is composed of all-steel materials and special sliding material Technoslide on the sliding surfaces. This difference of T-BRBs allows higher performance, lighter design, consistent and proven production quality, superior durability, inspection possibility, much more economical replacement after a severe earthquake and easier handling on the construction site, compared to ordinary BRBs, without any cost increase.

T-BRBs can be used in both new and retrofitting of existing structures.
