TIS Technological Isolation Systems
TDP (TIS Double Pendulum) is the double sliding curved surface slider type seismic isolation device. TDP devices are designed to dissipate seismic forces, providing effective protection for civil engineering structures to ensure “operational” structural performance during any seismic event. With the same dimensions, higher horizontal displacement capacities can be achieved with the TDP device compared to the TSP thanks to its advanced sliding mechanism, allowing more economical and compact devices.
TDP consists of a steel sliding element, which can also be articulated to accommodate high rotation demands, located between two backing plates with the same radius of curvature and patented special sliding materials Technoslide on sliding/rotating surfaces.
Two sliding surfaces of the sliding element of TDP is located on the steel backing plates and accommodates for the horizontal displacement, while also dissipating energy with friction mechanism. Since horizontal movement is achieved on two sliding surfaces at the same time, TDP devices have more compact design compared to TSP devices. If the sliding element is designed with articulation, there can be an internal hinge in the sliding element as well. Having curved sliding surfaces provides re-centering capability during earthquakes for TDP devices.
TDP devices can be used in all types of civil engineering structures that are designed with seismic isolation systems.
