Single Curved Surface Friction Pendulum Type Seismic Isolator - TSP

TSP (TIS Single Pendulum) is a single sliding curved surface seismic isolation device. TSP devices are designed to dissipate seismic forces, providing effective protection for civil engineering structures to ensure “operational” structural performance during any seismic event.

TSP consists of a steel sliding element located between two backing plates with different radius of curvature values and patented special sliding materials Technoslide on sliding/rotating surfaces. 

One surface of the sliding element of TSP is located on the steel backing plate and accommodates for the horizontal displacement, while also dissipating energy with friction mechanism. The other surface of the sliding element is attached to the other backing plate, and this surface only accommodates rotation. Having curved sliding surfaces provides re-centering capability during earthquakes for TSP devices.

TSP devices are mostly used in lower mass civil engineering structures that are located in low to medium seismicity regions and best suits for projects with very high rotation demands.
